French wine map

€32

A printed map of the French wine regions, drawn to scale for the wall opposite the dining table.

Heads up: the print is in French for now (regions, appellations, grape varieties). An English edition is on the way.

Made on demand · ships in 4-7 days

Two bottles, same grape, wildly different wines. The reason is almost always the place. This French wine map puts every wine region of France on one wall, drawn to scale, so the geography behind the bottle finally clicks.

It is the same map we keep in view while recording the podcast: a quick way to see why a Syrah from the northern Rhône tastes nothing like a Syrah from the south, or where Chablis sits relative to the rest of Burgundy.

Every French wine region on one wall

The map covers all 14 of France’s wine regions, each outlined to scale with its signature grape varieties listed alongside:

  • Bordeaux: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sémillon, Sauvignon
  • Burgundy: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Aligoté
  • Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay
  • Loire Valley: Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, Melon de Bourgogne
  • Rhône: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier
  • Alsace: Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc
  • Provence, Languedoc-Roussillon, Sud-Ouest, Beaujolais, Jura, Savoie, Bugey and Corsica, each with their own grapes

Trace the Loire from Nantes inland, see how tight Burgundy really is, or find where Provence rosé actually comes from. It rewards a long look.

What’s actually on the map

This is a reference piece, not just décor. It carries:

  • The 14 wine regions, outlined and colour-coded
  • Appellations and rivers, because the great vineyards almost always follow the water
  • Grape varieties ranked by planted area across the country, from Merlot (112,200 hectares) down to Sauvignon Blanc
  • A colour key for red, rosé and white production share by region
  • The headline numbers: France farms 750,000 hectares of vines across 85,000 producers, making 4.2 billion litres a year

Printed to last

We print on 200 gsm uncoated matte, archival paper with a soft, premium feel and no glare under a lamp. The inks are giclée-quality and fade-resistant, so it still looks right years from now. It arrives rolled, ready for any standard 50 x 70 cm frame.

Every map is printed on demand and shipped from the production facility nearest you, so nothing sits in a warehouse and shipping stays short.

The French wine map on the wall of an entryway

Made for the room where you actually drink wine

It looks at home above the dining table, in the kitchen, along a hallway, or over the rack in a wine cellar. The labelling is French, the way the country names its own wine, which is part of the charm.

If you are still learning the map by heart, our guide to Bordeaux’s wine classifications and our visit to Château Haut-Bailly in Pessac-Léognan are good companions, along with our pick of 10 essential wine books.

Going deeper on one region? We also make detailed maps of Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Champagne vineyards. They hang beautifully as a set.

Frequently asked questions

Is the map in French or English?

The map is drawn and labelled in French, the way the regions and grapes are named at home in France. Most of what matters reads the same in any language: Bordeaux, Champagne, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay. An English edition is on the way.

What size is the French wine map, and does it come framed?

It is 50 x 70 cm (about 20 x 28 in), the standard large poster size, so it drops straight into any off-the-shelf 50 x 70 frame. We ship it rolled and unframed to keep it safe in transit and the price fair.

What paper is it printed on?

200 gsm uncoated matte, archival stock with a soft, premium feel and no glare. It is printed with giclée-quality, fade-resistant inks so the colours hold for years.

How long does shipping take?

Each map is printed on demand and shipped from the production facility nearest you, then delivered in about 4 to 7 days. Europe is 6 euros, North America 12 euros.

Does it make a good gift?

It is one of our most-gifted pieces. For anyone learning wine, hosting dinners, or planning a trip through the French vineyards, it is a gift that stays on the wall and gets used.
